Appearance: Wylan is described as being the youngest member of the Dregs at 16, with some (like Matthais) thinking that he's younger. Despite his youth, he resembles his father quite a bit but with his mother's hair. Fair-skinned, golden-red hair, and blue eyes-- Kaz Brekker even described him as someone who "looked like a child - smooth-skinned, wide-eyed, like a silk-eared puppy in a room full of fighting dogs." He's not too tall for his age and is underweight due to his time living in the Barrel.

Background: History.
Personality: Wylan can be said to be the kindest of the Dregs, which can likely be attributed to his unease at being considered or compared to a criminal. He is rather shy, often offering up his thoughts only when asked. Due to his treatment under his father due to his dyslexia, Wylan doubts his worth and thus the worth of his opinion. As his father abused him and ultimately tried to kill him more than once, Wylan has times of wondering why or how it is he is still alive. It is through his independence with the Dregs that Wylan starts to grow out of this and become more confident in himself and his skills.
Wylan's dyslexia has had a profound effect on his interests and drives as well. As no tutor could teach him how to read, he prefers music and numbers to words. This lends to his talents with chemical calculations, schematic work, and (oddly enough) the flute.
While Wylan dislikes being called out for a criminal, he does take pride in his knowledge of chemistry and specifically demolition. He is curious by nature, often questioning how things function and showing knowledge of building plans and schematics. Due to his upbringing, Wylan is unused to the lethal force that is employed in the criminal underground, but he is not afraid to do damage. He even volunteers that they can use his charges to wake up a target when Jesper says he is unwilling to kill a sleeping man. Despite his compassion and more gentle nature, Wylan can be ruthless and cold when needed--especially if it is in retaliation to being wronged himself or having someone he cares about hurt.
Weaknesses/Temptations: Approval--While Wylan is more confident in himself, his skills, and his worth, he still wants approval from those that matter to him. If something is offered that might earn him that approval, or if a situation comes up where he may further prove himself, he will be more drawn to it because of that promise. This might mean putting himself at undue risk.
Friends--Wylan puts his value in people and in the loyalty found there. Much as he doesn't want to be a criminal, he was willing to take risks and do rather illegal things to keep the Dregs safe and to earn his place among them. He nearly started a riot at the auction to follow through with Kaz's plans. If someone he considers a friend is in need, he'll put himself on the line to help them.
His Mother--Even though she isn't in Hell, threats to his mother or a promise to be able to reach her would prove a way to immediately get under Wylan's skin. After believing her dead and only recently finding her again, Wylan would want to protect her or be able to ensure her that he's all right.
Literacy--His inability to read and write is a disadvantage that has plagued Wylan all of his life. If someone were to offer the chance to be literate, to be able to do what he's believed impossible all of his life, Wylan could be tempted to sign a deal with the Devil himself. However, the terms would have to be just as tantalizing as the promised end result.
